Operations Data Was Invisible to Decision Makers

Operations managers needed timely logistics data to make routing, scheduling, and resource allocation decisions. But the data lived in disconnected databases, accessible only through IT-generated reports that arrived days after the fact.

By the time managers received insights, the information was already stale. Delayed deliveries, inefficient routes, and bottlenecks went unnoticed until they escalated into bigger problems.

Self-Service Real-Time Dashboard

I designed and built an interactive Power BI dashboard that connected directly to the operational databases:

• Data Modeling: Wrote optimized SQL views that aggregated data from multiple logistics tables — shipments, routes, driver assignments, and delivery confirmations.
• Dashboard Design: Created a multi-page Power BI report with overview, route performance, delivery tracking, and bottleneck identification views.
• Real-Time Refresh: Configured scheduled data refreshes to ensure the dashboard always showed near-current data without manual intervention.
• User Training: Conducted brief sessions with operations managers, teaching them to filter, drill down, and extract insights independently.

Visibility Creates Accountability

Once managers could see delivery performance in real time, behavioral changes happened naturally. Teams started proactively addressing delays before they compounded, and route inefficiencies that had been silently accepted for months were quickly optimized.

The biggest improvement didn't come from any algorithmic insight — it came from simply making existing data accessible. When the right people can see the right numbers at the right time, better decisions follow automatically.
